Dr. Edward J. Brantmeier is an assistant professor in the School of Education at Colorado State University. After attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison for two years, studying abroad in the South Pacific, student teaching in the Navajo Nation, and then earning a Bachelor’s degree in English with minors in anthropology and English-as-a-Second language from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Ed taught in a variety of domestic and international schooling contexts. He earned a Master’s of science in international and comparative education and a Ph. D. in history, philosophy, and education policy studies (with minors in anthropology and India studies) from Indiana University-Bloomington. He currently teaches multicultural education and foundations courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. His research interests include: the practical and theoretical braiding of multicultural education, peace education, and critical social theory within the context of teacher education; cross-cultural competence; intercultural peacebuilding; and cultural conflict and change. He has written or co-authored articles in the following journals: Theory and Research in Social Education; Journal of American Indian Education; Journal of Peace Education; International Education; Forum on Public Policy; Infactis Pax; and the Journal of Stellar Peacemaking. His co-edited book, Educators as Peacemakers: Transforming Education for Global Peace, is in production with Information Age Publishing. He currently serves as a co-editor for a book series on peace education with Information Age Publishing.
